OUR Story
Raschad Gibson has over 15 years of experience as a carpenter, honing his craft and adopting a balance between the old and the new in his approach to building. From joining wooden timbers using traditional hand tools, to framing and finishing modern homes using the newest methods, his knowledge and skills are highly adaptable. Since childhood, Raschad has shown a love for working with his hands. His interest first demonstrated when he built a cedar strip canoe for his final project in high school shop class. This lifelong fascination with wood has led him to be inspired by understanding the natural world; and to a year spent in Ireland building traditional wooden boats, and decade on the Buffalo Farm, farming and building unique accommodations, solidifying his firm belief that hand tools and an older approach to building still have an important place in the modern world. The last five years working with a general contractor in Greater Sudbury has combined the old with the new in his approach to building and gives him a truly unique and creative balance when battling design problems. The name Ark Joinery is inspired by Raschad's love for wooden boat building, after "Noah's Ark". |
